Mastering the Lyre: How to Complete “The Gift of Song” in Hades
If you have spent any time roaming the halls of the House of Hades, you have likely noticed the innocent-looking string instrument sitting in the corner of Zagreus’ bedroom: the Lyre. At first, interacting with it yields little more than some hilariously discordant plucking and Zagreus cringing at his own lack of musical talent.
However, hidden behind those painful notes is one of the game’s most charming minor prophecies: The Gift of Song. Fulfilling this prophecy takes a bit of patience, persistence, and a whole lot of plucking, but the reward is well worth the effort.
Here is everything you need to know to unlock, progress, and complete “The Gift of Song.”
Step 1: Unlocking the Prophecy
Before you can officially start tracking progress for this quest, you need to set the stage by purchasing the Lyre and gaining Orpheus’ musical insight.
- Unlock the Fated List: Ensure you have purchased the Fated List of Minor Prophecies from the House Contractor using Gemstones.
- Acquire the Lyre: Buy the Lyre for your bedroom from the House Contractor (it costs 1 Diamond).
- Talk to Orpheus: Build a rapport with the court musician, Orpheus. Give him Nectar, chat with him regularly, and progress his dialogue—specifically listening to him sing again or discussing your exploits. Eventually, Orpheus will suggest that you try practicing music on the Lyre yourself.
- Check the Prophecy: Once triggered, “The Gift of Song” will appear on your Fated List of Minor Prophecies desk.
Step 2: The Grind — Interacting with the Lyre
The core requirement of the prophecy is simple in theory, though repetitive in practice: Zagreus needs to practice.
